PRAHA!!!
hello i'm back and today it's sunny (sort of) well it's not raining for the first time in like 10 days so hooray!!! and my ankle yes it's still swollen but it doesn't hurt as much. also i learned how to play backgammon last night. now yancy and i have something to occupy our time with hooray!!!
before i get to prague... i want to put a few pictures i took while i've been back.
off to the supermarket again (our major past time) yancy and i noticed this broken light and thought it was hilarious
oh leeds sunset
after i got back from my trip max my looooooooooooooooovely (ahem: stupid) roommate couldn't figure where to bin the toilet paper rolls so i wrote on all seven that had been sitting on the window sill for weeks 'do you know where the bin is?' and left them there. he so kindly replied no... which is ridiculous and i was tempted to put something back but a few days later he did bin them. one is you know understandable but SEVEN!!! anyway here is a photo of that:
also i have my computer so i wrote 'je te deteste! merde!!' on it
here is the little library photo i put into the library
and a close up
and this is me and my lovely friend alice when we went out to clock together
so on to PRAHA!!! on the train i was fortunate enough to meet a lovely friend and her mother. Beatrix and mother they will be refered to from here on out. Beatrix and mother were from spain (barcelona) but mother spoke mainly french and beatrix was studying for a year in nice. anyway we managed the subway system together and planned to meet the next day with their friend caroline from montreal
so we met the next day i was late but they waited and we took the scenic tram for a bit and then headed for old town where the castle is
this is the main bridge called something like st vladamir bridge or the charles bridge maybe i can't remember
then we went to the kafka museum. in the summer i read a book about franz kafka and decided i had to go to prague. i never managed to find his house but i did go to his museum. it was nice
outside was a statue of two men publicly urinating... only a man could come up with something like that. ridiculous. and so caroline pretended to drink the pee... ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
next we went to prague castle and here is PRAUGE!!
here are caroline, beatrix and mother talking outside the cathedral which was absolutely breathtaking!
i can't remember what it's called either
this is inside the royal house which wasn't too exciting
inside here there were these really large green furniture pieces or something that were huge and slippery looking and they all had signs on them that said 'please do not touch or sit on' but there was nowhere to sit on them!!! i thought it was rather bizarre!
this is golden lane which is made up of many tiny tiny houses which is now completely tourist ridden
and this is one of kafka's houses where he lived i think during the war
beatrix!! hiiiiiiiiiiiii! :)
after the castle it started to rain. oh and before the castle we went to lunch and had czech beer and goolash! mmmmm eastern europe food! so then it started to rain and we were all really tired so we went home and caroline, beatrix and i agreed to meet later for dinner.
i unfortuneatly couldn't find caroline's hostel which was really close to mine so i went to the subway myself to hope i met beatrix and that caroline would come on her own later. which she did. we found this pub like place serving huge portions of meat for dirt cheap.
dinner celebrations!!!
then we had to part ways with beatrix which was really sad. there were a few people i really clicked with while travelling and she was one! she was such a lovely girl it was so sad to say goodbye.
anyway the next day caroline and i met and went to the jewish quarter. i was feeling really tired so i didn't really see that much of it but here is the jewish cemetery
and the spanish synagogue
this is the old town square where i thought we would find a market but we didn't
then we did find a market which wasn't very good and walked up to old king wensceles's square.. the same king wensceles from the christmas carol
and then i caught a train to berlin
till tomorrow or later today my friends!
