FRANCE!

now that i am back in leeds, despite having loads of work I am going to show you some photos from my trip hooray!!!
first we start in France.
so I flew to Nimes a very small lovely city.
this is the square by the train station:












this is the maison carre which is in the city centre. i think its an old temple that is closed possibly... i can't remember anymore but lots of people like to hang out here. the tourist office is very close and an older lady gave me a bon bon so that was nice!

don't worry the bon bon didn't poison me!

here are shutters... lovely lovely shutters all over europe! at this point i was waiting for the bus... i tried to tell the driver to announce my stop but really i have no idea how to say that in french and annoucer le arret is not correct!


here are maike (left) and marion in our hostel room when we had arrived. the hostel was amazing. it was like an old farm with big red shutters and mmm nice clean beds!! and great company too

at some point in the evening i ended up back in the hostel room where i met pamela my lovely friend from glasgow!

the next day i was leaving for toulouse and maike and marion were hitching to arles and pamela was going to montpellier

these were my first friends on my trip and it was so hard to say goodbye.

so i caught my train a little while after to toulouse. got on the wrong carriage was yelled at in french didn't understand but then we went by this town

ON THE MEDITERRAINIAN! and i saw FLAMINGOS!!! how cool is that! i have never seen those before ever!

as you may recall arriving in toulouse i met ruth from berlin and we were greeted by a full hostel. but we persevered and found this lovely boarding house to stay in that was in a better location too. at metro stop esquirol. called st. thomas d'aquin ecole or something of the sort.

the next day i promptly left toulouse in late afternoon on a first class train heading for lyon part dieu and then to geneva switzerland! which you will see maybe tomorrow!
here is my first class seat on the train... ooooo fancy!


i also have to tell you that i went to touluose becuase of the name... in first year we learned about old important buildings in toulouse which now i can't remember and then i found a stray cat on york campus who i decided to name toulouse and was feeding cat cookies. she was really nice that cat. and then i decided that i had to go to toulouse... so i did! nimes was just a random place to decide to go basically becuase ryanair flew there from london luton which is easier to get to than stanstead.
